Far too often, humility is seen as a weakness, when in reality, it is one of our greatest strengths. It is humility that allows us to love when we have every reason to hate; to forgive, when we have every reason to exact or seek revenge; to help, when there is no benefit or reason for us; to embrace, when we have every reason to shun and turn away. Humility allows us to stay silent when some think we should speak. Humility allows you to stay grounded to the point that when we have attained our highest pinnacles in life, we can still say: Please, thank you, sincerely apologize, my fault, and mea culpa to the least of us. Humility allows for the clear vision and the moral courage to call right…right and wrong…wrong. Humility allows us to not ever think that we are beyond reproach or above the law. It is humility that allows us to stay grounded at our highest peak and to stay faithful in our lowest valleys. Humility allows us to do all of these things not because we are externally weak, but because we are internally strong. In the end…no matter what, humility will always win. Ask those who were on their highest peak and were proud, boastful, and laughed loudly and are now in their deepest valley and they cry silently…in the darkness, alone, and in the rain.
