Description

In life, it is easier for us to hate than to love unconditionally. Hence unconditional love becomes a “road less traveled.” It is difficult to love when a person has deliberately and intentionally hurt us; has disparaged us, and said hurtful things about us. It is easy to love when conditions are amenable or amicable. The saying love is blind is often used in a traditional sense of love, for we can love a person no matter how they look.

Unconditional love should also be blind. We should continue to love people no matter how they look or no matter what they have done. We can deplore the action or the deed, but we can still love the person. In the Bible in First John 4:20, it states, “If anyone says: I love God and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” It is very difficult concept to grasp, act, and live in both spirit and in truth.

Why is this important within the realm of success? Depending upon the roads you take in life will decide whether you have a life of happiness despite enduring difficult trials, tragedies, and testaments, or whether you endure a life of bitterness despite your successes. According to Nelson Mandela, “if you hate the guard who imprisoned you, you have in fact been imprisoned twice.”
